The first Düntsam retreat will be dedicated to Dorje Sempa practice. Dorje Sempa, or Vajrasattva in Sanskrit, is an important practice in the Karma Kagyu lineage and an essential component of Ngondro practice. Considering its importance, Rinpoché determined this to be the practice for Düntsam, 2017.
The format of Düntsam retreat will be that of the traditional three years retreat, but in a much smaller scale. Some of the overlapping elements include maintaining six sessions a day, setting and observing retreat boundaries, and on specified days, upholding sojong vows.
The retreat will commence on August 19th and conclude on August 23rd; due to an unforeseen circumstance, this year’s Düntsam had to be two days shorter than the ideal length.
We have 35 registered participants, all from different parts of the world; registration is still open. All participants will be practicing, upholding the established discipline of Düntsam.
Day 1 begins with Refuge and Bodhisattva vow ceremonies, followed by Dorje Sempa empowerment, lung or Reading Transmission, and detailed instruction on the stages of visualizations known as migrim.
In the subsequent blog posts, readers will get a highlight of each Düntsam day, along with beautiful photographs from the event.
